Shoumei (also written Shou Mei) is a white tea made from larger, later-picked leaves together with some buds. Like all white teas, it is only withered and dried – no rolling, no roasting. Shoumei is generally fuller and fruitier than bud-only white teas, with notes often described as dried fruit, hay and honey.
Pressing the leaves into a cake keeps the tea compact and easy to store. Use a tea knife or pick to ease off a few grams at a time. It’s forgiving to brew and works in a mug as well as a gaiwan.
Ingredients: White tea. Storage: Keep in a cool, dry place away from light and strong odors. Production date: see package label.
We haven’t tasted this batch yet; tasting notes describe Shoumei in general.
