Sui Yin Zi (“broken silver”), also called tea fossil (cha hua shi), is ripe pu-erh in small, dense nuggets that form during fermentation. This one is sold as a sticky rice aroma style (nuo xiang); ripe pu-erh of this kind is generally described as smooth, earthy and mellow.
This 100 g tin is a convenient size to try the style. Use a few nuggets per pot, rinse once, then steep in boiling water; the nuggets open slowly over many infusions. It is a different format from our ripe pu-erh mini bricks in the 250 g gold tin.
Ingredients: not listed by the supplier – see the tin label. Storage: Keep sealed in a cool, dry place away from light and strong odors.
We haven’t tasted this batch yet; tasting notes describe Sui Yin Zi ripe pu-erh in general.
