Oriental Beauty, also called Bai Hao (“white tip”) or Dong Fang Mei Ren, is a Taiwanese oolong made from leaves bitten by small leafhoppers in summer. The bites change the leaf chemistry, and heavy oxidation brings out its well-known honey and ripe-fruit sweetness with very little bitterness. The dry leaf is a mix of brown, red, white and green, with plenty of silvery tips.
Gaiwan: 5 g of leaf, water at 85–90 °C (185–194 °F), 30–40 seconds for the first infusion, a little longer each round; good for 4–5 infusions.
Mug: 3 g in 300 ml of water at 85–90 °C for 3 minutes.
Ingredients: Oolong tea. Storage: Keep sealed in a cool, dry place away from light and strong odors.
